Information About the Department of Photography and Video
The Department of Photography and Video offers a 4-year Bachelor’s degree program. The curriculum focuses primarily on the fields of photography and moving images, utilizing new technologies in multimedia.
The Department of Photography and Video accepts applicants who are creative, capable of visual analysis, and able to develop a vision for the future. Upon completion of the 4-year program, graduates can pursue careers in a wide range of fields, such as creative director at next-generation studios and moving image production companies/institutions, or as faculty members in relevant university departments.
Mission
To impart the knowledge and skills necessary for the effective production, transmission, and communication of visual content—primarily in the arts but also across all fields—through the use of visual technology. To evaluate the conditions of the current era through the lens of art; to introduce new concepts to the field of art; to establish the conceptual framework of works produced in photography and video as a discipline and to establish its relationship with other disciplines; and to train individuals who are both researchers and practitioners in related fields.
Vision
To liberate photography and video from their current position of speaking solely through their own concepts within the rapidly changing and evolving world order of the 21st century—in terms of education, economy, society, and politics—and to reimagine them experimentally within their own boundaries.
